A quick selection of recent jazz fusion and nu jazz releases we’ve been spending time with, spanning albums, EPs, and singles from across the genre.

Last Scene Alive – World Class Pep Talk

Album || 6 March 2026 || Progressive Jazz Fusion, Nu Jazz, Jazztronica || United States

A vibrant, fun record that really earns the ‘fusion’ tag. It’s got prog rock edges, plenty of atmospheric moments, and electronic textures running through the whole thing, and somehow it all fits pretty naturally.

Kryptones – Matti’s Mojo

Single (via Mutterkomplex) || 27 March 2026 || Jazz Fusion, Jazz Funk, Jazz Rock || Germany

A nice laid-back one from this twelve-piece outfit, with the big-band energy dialled back just enough to let the groove breathe.

Playlist Companion: Upbeat Jazz Fusion

Tigran Hamasyan – Manifeste

Album (via Yergatun) || 6 February 2026 || Jazz Fusion, Avant-Garde Jazz || Armenia

Lots of fluid, beautiful piano figures here, plus those shifting time signatures and the folk-rooted melodic touches Tigran does so well. Not the easiest album in the bunch, but one that gives plenty back if you like your music a bit eclectic.

Playlist Companion: Nu Jazz, Jazztronica

To Die On Ice – Panoramica Degli Abissi

Album (via Subsound Records) || 6 February 2026 || Dark Jazz, Noir Jazz || Italy

Dark, slow-creeping stuff from Italy that wears its “Lynch Core” label well, and easily stands out in the still pretty sparse doom/noir jazz lane.

Playlist Companion: Dark Jazz, Noir Jazz & Doom Jazz

Naná Rizinni – The Right Side Of The Escalator

Single || 28 January 2026 || Nu Jazz, Jazztronica || United Kingdom

A catchy electro-jazz track with a nice hazy feel, and a strong first taste of her upcoming album, Epiblast.

Playlist Companion: Nu Jazz, Jazztronica

The Messthetics & James Brandon Lewis – Deface The Currency

Album (via Impulse! Records) || 20 February 2026 || Jazz Rock, Progressive Jazz Fusion || United States

Noisy, wiry jazz-rock with real punk blood in it.

Playlist Companion: Progressive Jazz Fusion & Jazz Metal

Lorenzo Di Maio – Ruby II

Album (via Igloo Records) || 27 March 2026 || Jazz Rock, Nu Jazz, Jazztronica || Belgium

A pretty accessible jazz-rock record with enough synth-pop colour and rhythmic snap to give it some personality.

Playlist Companion: Atmospheric Jazz Fusion
