This is our handpicked list of upbeat tracks from shoegaze, dream pop, and nearby musical territory.
Just a few quick notes before you start listening:
We wanted to focus on songs that lean positive “both melodically and lyrically.” That meant leaving out plenty of catchy, energetic tracks whose lyrics are fundamentally sad, anxious, or emotionally unresolved.
That said, not every song here is purely cheerful. Some are hopeful, restorative, healing, or life-affirming rather than carefree, but the overall feeling remains positive.
The list also isn’t limited to strict shoegaze. You’ll find plenty of crossover from dream pop, noise pop, alternative and indie rock, and post-punk.
