On October 31, 2025, Vindu released Dreamspaces via Nettwerk, adding another intimate entry to his growing catalog. Consisting of five short tracks, the project is brief but carefully crafted, offering listeners a soft place to land. Its mood is exactly what the title suggests: drifting, calming, cinematic in small, tender ways.
For those unfamiliar, Vindu’s musical journey stretches back quite a while. With roots in Bosnia and Herzegovina and now based in Sweden, he began producing music young and has gradually carved out his identity across several styles, from melodic house to synthwave to the lofi sound he is now known for. A defining thread across much of his work is his sustained interest in Japanese culture, reflected in both the mood of his music and its textural makeup, where traditional East Asian elements take a prominent role [And while there’s plenty to explore, if you’re interested in Asian-influenced lofi and want to explore that side of his artistry, we’d recommend starting with 2021’s Ikigai and this year’s Vindu, the Gaijin, as the strongest entry points.]
Dreamspaces continues Vindu’s tranquil aesthetic but shifts the palette slightly, moving closer to ambient territory. Here, guitar takes on a more central role, pairing with soft piano lines to create something warm, delicate, and unforced. The use of subtle field recordings and nature sounds gives the tracks an almost tactile sense of space, as though they’re unfolding in a real, lived-in environment rather than a tightly sealed studio mix. And although each track features a different collaborator, the EP maintains a coherent mood from start to finish, never feeling like a collage of guest influences.

The core of the EP’s mood comes through most clearly on “Kindred Spirit” and “Cloud Pillow.” The latter’s gentle guitar lines arrive like sunlight through thin curtains, with soft birdsong and flowing water ambience tucked into the background to deepen the calm. The final track, “Passage of Time,” expands the sound in a more cinematic direction, layering muted choral textures beneath a nostalgic interplay of guitar, steady piano, and a reassuring beat. It’s a quietly affecting closer – reflective, warm, and a little bittersweet.
If there’s one drawback, it’s simply the length. At just around twelve minutes, the EP feels like it could have stretched a little further, letting its themes and textures settle in more fully. But who knows, perhaps that brevity is part of its intention. We move through our days quickly, pulled from one thing to the next, wrapped up in the usual day-to-day chaos. In the middle of all that, Dreamspaces feels like a breath taken, a pause between steps. Small, yes, but quietly reassuring.
